Shrimp Trawler Caught Red-Handed

Operation Albacore leads to another arrest!

A few days ago, the Renovation 2, a shrimp trawler, was busted red-handed using undersized fishing gear while fishing for shrimp in Gabonese waters resulting in a large amount of bycatch.

The Gabonese Minister of fisheries, Minister Maganga-Moussavou, accompanied the boarding team, saying “These wasteful practices cannot be tolerated in Gabon. I have commissioned an official inquiry into the shrimp fishery and pending the outcome of the investigation, I am prepared to suspend the fishing season until a solution can be found to the bycatch problem”.
